June – what an appropriate month, from a numerologist’s point of view, for Father’s Day. The universal number for June is six, because it is the sixth month of the year. And six, in numerology, is the number of love, family, nurturing, and service. A good fit, right?
But before I delve deeper into the meaning of the number six, let me give you a quick idea of what numerology is and how it works.
Numerology is a mystical system for understanding the world through numbers, and it is based on the underlying truth that everything is energy. So in numerology, each number represents a different essential energy, with its own properties. Many of the ancient wisdom traditions used numbers in mystical ways to make meaning of life.
In the Western world, modern numerology is inspired by the work of Pythagoras, a philosopher and mathematician of ancient Greece. You may know him best for the Pythagorean Theorem, but he also founded an ancient mystery school to study truth, beauty, and other metaphysical ideas.
Numerology, as we know it today, reveals universal truths about the nature of your soul by studying the energy of the significant numbers present in your life – especially the numbers included in your date of birth, the letters of your name, and significant dates.
Which brings us to June and the number six!
Six indicates that the energy of family may play a prominent role for you in June. The obvious role would be in how you relate to any and all members of your family this month. A less obvious but equally important role may be how the energy of family, nurturing and love, plays out within you!
Regardless of whether you are male or female, you carry both masculine and feminine energy within you. We all do. The balance of masculine and feminine is different for each person, and one may be given emphasis over the other in different situations and in different phases of life.
If you are experiencing tension around family this month, you may benefit from first looking within and clarifying how you are handling your own six energy. Asking yourself a few simple questions may help.
Are you loving yourself, or are you in some way denying yourself the love available in your own soul? Are you taking responsibility for yourself, your own emotions and well-being, or are you consciously or unconsciously expecting someone else to take responsibility for you?
On the other hand, are you allowing others in your life the freedom to take responsibility for themselves, or are you taking on their burdens and issues in an attempt to take responsibility for their well-being, a sure pathway to burnout and resentment?
One principle of numerology, that I have found crucial in helping my clients clear blocks and create ease in their lives, teaches that the energy of any number can be worked with in a positive or a negative way. Using the number six as an example, you may be working positively with that nurturing energy by maintaining clear boundaries and being of service to others in your family in a healthy way that involves both giving and receiving. It’s win-win; everyone is empowered.
If, however, you are working with that nurturing energy in a negative way, you may be taking on too much on behalf of others, trying to tough it out and, even worse, remaining silent about it! You end up drained, and others may actually end up dis-empowered.
Although focus this month is on the father, the number six is actually a feminine number. Just remember that even fathers have feminine energy, and fathers, like everyone else, are trying to find the right balance in this world. Whether you are a father, someone in a fathering role (as are some mothers or siblings) or you are close to someone in your life who lives the father role, take the opportunity this month to focus on right relationship and restoration of balance between the feminine and masculine energies.
What would that look like for you?
It might mean cutting yourself or someone else in your life some slack. It might mean pushing a little less to make things happen a certain way or make others be a certain way. It might mean providing a little extra nurturing for yourself or someone else. Or, you may need to dive deep within and question your or another’s motives for doing good.
Only you can know for sure.
Numerology is a creative and often uncanny way of looking at the dynamics in your life and finding ways to create balance. I hope this brief look at the number of love, family, and service provides you with an inspiring theme for inquiry throughout the month of June!
